funky. playful. warm.

You've got to bless your ears with the funky, playful, warmth of Architecture in Helsinki's
newest album; Places Like This. First, watch their painfully cool new video for Heart it Races. (This highly caffeinated song is slightly atypical of the rest of the album.)

Then, buy their new album, or email me and ask me to make one for you. Architecture's music embodies the way I want life to be: it's energetic while also wistful, it's funky and hyper at times and soft and cute at other times. It's profoundly fun and profoundly hopeful. There's a sound in the music itself, not the words, that distinctly expresses a feeling of hope. I don't know how to explain it. The sound has this quality of accepting the the lifeness of life, while belligerently and willingly recognizing and hoping for beauty. Surround yourself with beauty and fun. Listen to this new album!

Click here if it doesn't work.

Don't you think life should be this way? We ought to be running around in fun costumes doing synchronized dances with each other!

Hey, we must have both been reading Pitchfork today. I did a little advertising for Architecture in Helsinki on my blog too.

Nat, Justin, and some other friends of their's and mine went to an Architecture concert while I was at Covenant last semester. They played with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and weren't actually the main-main attraction. They opened up with Wishbone, from In Case We Die. In this song, the girl sings lead vocals. Natalie just looved how she sang it, and her zanny clothes, and everything.

Sometimes when I'm with Justin and Brett, one of us starts going "bum..bum..bum..budumbumbuhdumbum..bum..bum.." And then the other begins the voice in those high voices. I'm so glad you made a post about this band! It's such a part of my fam's identity, yaknow? Haha.
